Addicted to Bad Ideas

Happy Halloween from the forest moon of Endor! 🌲🌙

Having an authentic looking spear was top priority for me in order to make this costume complete, so I searched everywhere for one… even going as far as the Outer Rim planet of Batuu. No stores in the universe (including Etsy 😳) carried a kid sized toy spear! DIY was the only option and my entire family got involved. 🤪 It was the only homemade part of the costume but I’m so happy with how it turned out. 💚

Our little Ewok felt very out of place on Endor and had to be bribed with Oreos and YouTube to get these photos. We had watched clips of Return of the Jedi the night before and giggled over saying “yub yub” like Wicket, but saying it in the forest wasn’t as fun… hence the video “don’t want to yub yub”. 🤣 (She also thinks every video is meant to be a birthday greeting lol)

Lastly, the costume was inspired by my own bear costume many moons ago. 🐻 I won’t even bother asking who wore it better - our Ewok wins, hands down. May the Force be with you this Halloween! 💫

Fun fact: Garrick asked me what type of flowers I’d like and I sent him photos of Linda’s work as inspiration. A couple weeks later, I happened to photograph this event featuring her swoon-worthy work! 🤩 She has an impeccable eye for color and design and I can’t wait to work with her again in the future ☺️💐

Could I just take a moment to say how proud I am of the small business owners I’m fortunate enough to call my friends? Today I want to give a shoutout to one in particular: @papermintpress. Everything Kat creates - from invitations to signage, business cards to custom stamps - is crafted with care, artistry, and professionalism. Letterpress, calligraphy, design… she can do it all. I’ve had the privilege of witnessing her journey as an entrepreneur from the very beginning and I’m SO proud of how far she’s come. Big things are in store for Paper Mint Press and I can’t wait to see what the future holds! ❤️

On a more personal note, Kat was among the first of my friends to become a mom. It’s so helpful and reassuring to have a friend pave the way when it comes to embracing the adventure of parenthood. Kat makes motherhood look effortless but also never held back from sharing the difficult parts, which helped me shape my expectations in a realistic way. I hope I can do the same for my friends who are soon-to-be parents. ☺️
